My Aunt's Falafel Recipe

Unbiased opinion - my aunt’s falafel is the best falafel out there! I begged her to let me share this recipe with all of you so please test it out and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup of chickpeas

  • Half a large onion (½ cup chopped)

  • ½ cup of cilantro (chopped)

  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda

  • 1 tablespoon of salt

  • 2 tablespoons of falafel spices (½ tablespoon each - coriander, cumin, turmeric, caraway powder)

  • 1 cup of avocado oil (for frying)

Instructions:

  1. Soak dry chickpeas overnight

  2. Drain the chickpeas and rinse. Then, blend them in a food processor with the onion and cilantro until a paste is formed.

  3. Mix in all of the spices. Let the mixture rest for about half an hour.

  4. Add oil to a pan and turn it on medium heat. Fry 1 tablespoon of falafel batter until they crispy.

  5. Enjoy with tahini sauce!
